Abstract

A content projection system may include a projector configured to project content onto a first ride vehicle, a tracking system configured to track (e.g., a position and an orientation of) the first ride vehicle within a ride, and a projector control system in communication with the projector and the tracking system, the projector control system configured to activate the projector to project the content based on at least the position of the first ride vehicle. The tracking system may determine the position of the first ride vehicle relative to a second ride vehicle. The projector control system may activate the projector to project the content based on the relative position between the first and second ride vehicles.

Background

FIELD

The present application relates to systems and methods of increasing rider throughput and providing immersive experiences in amusement park attractions. BACKGROUND

Increasing throughput of riders in amusement park attractions generally improves rider experiences by reducing wait times, enabling a larger number of riders able to experience an attraction on a given day, and the like. Rider throughput is often increased through the addition of ride vehicles to an existing attraction or through designing attractions to accommodate a large number of ride vehicles. Creating an immersive experience for riders is difficult with an increase to the number of ride vehicles, as this may cause other ride vehicles to be within eyesight of the riders. Existing strategies to keep riders from seeing other ride vehicles are generally complex, such as programming paths of various ride vehicles to avoid one another, dark ride environments, sophisticated ride vehicles, etc. Such strategies can be expensive to implement, may not allow certain creative themes, as well as may not be applicable to retrofitting of existing attractions, such as attractions using fixed track systems. A content projection system comprising: a projector configured to project content onto a first ride vehicle; a tracking system configured to track a position and an orientation of the first ride vehicle within a ride; and a projector control system in communication with the projector and the tracking system, wherein the projector control system is configured to activate the projector to project the content based on the position and the orientation of the first ride vehicle. || 9. A content projection system comprising: a projector configured to project content onto a first ride vehicle; a tracking system configured to determine a position of the first ride vehicle relative to a second ride vehicle; and a projector control system in communication with the projector and the tracking system, wherein the projector control system is configured to activate the projector to project the content based on the position of the first ride vehicle relative to the second ride vehicle. || 14. A system comprising: a tracking system comprising one or more sensors and configured to determine a position and an orientation of a first ride vehicle relative to a second ride vehicle based on input from the one or more sensors; and a projection system comprising a projector and configured to activate the projector to project content onto the first ride vehicle based on the position and the orientation of the first ride vehicle relative to the second ride vehicle.
