Abstract
There is provided a media content ontology system and method. The system includes a computing platform having a processor and a memory, a content genome database stored in the memory, and ontology software for execution by the processor. The ontology software is configured to map a media content asset to first and second content classifications based on respective first and second data, and to generate first and second content genome database entries associating the media content asset with other, correspondingly mapped, media content assets. In addition, the ontology software is configured to cross-index the first and second content genome database entries to enable identification of each of the first and second content classifications and the media content asset based on any one of the first or second content classifications or the media content asset.
Background
BACKGROUND(1) Consumers of media content, such as television (TV) content, movies, and music content, for example, have more control over their consumption choices than ever before. However, that proliferation of choice imposes on a consumer the burden of acquiring at least the minimum information necessary to identify the particular items of content likely to be pleasing to that consumer. By contrast, the historical approach to the delivery of TV content, for example, provided comparatively few consumption choices that were dictated by the networks providing TV programming. That historical approach, while undesirably limiting consumer choice, advantageously relieved the consumer of the burden of choosing. As the number of media content choices continues to increase, and as the costs of choosing well become increasingly burdensome, media content providers and consumers alike can benefit from a solution enabling identification of media content desirable to a consumer, which does not require the consumer to actively choose.SUMMARY(2) There are provided media content ontology systems and methods, substantially as shown in and/or described in connection with at least one of the figures, and as set forth more completely in the claims.
Claims
1. A media content ontology system comprising: a computing platform having a processor and a memory; a content genome database stored in the memory; a user interface; and the processor configured to execute an ontology software to: map a media content asset to first and second content classifications based on respective first and second data describing the media content asset, wherein the first data is received through the user interface, and the second data comprises image analysis data received from an image processing system communicatively coupled to the computing platform; infer a third data describing the media content asset based on the first data and the second data describing the media content asset when a likelihood of the third data describing the media content asset meets or exceeds a confidence threshold of less than one hundred percent; generate a first content genome database entry associating the media content asset mapped to the first content classification with other media content assets previously mapped to the first content classification; generate a second content genome database entry associating the media content asset mapped to the second content classification with other media content assets previously mapped to the second content classification; generate a third content genome database entry associating the media content asset mapped to a third content classification based on the third data with other media content assets previously mapped to the third content classification; cross-index the first, second and third content genome database entries to enable identification of each of the first, second and third content classifications and the media content asset based on any one of the first, second or third content classifications or the media content asset; and identify a new media content asset desirable to a consumer using the cross-indexed first, second and third content genome database entries.

A method for use by a media content ontology system including a computing platform having a processor, a memory having stored therein a content genome database, a user interface, and an ontology software, the method comprising: mapping, using the ontology software being executed by the processor, a media content asset to first and second content classifications based on respective first and second data describing the media content asset, wherein the first data is received through the user interface, and the second data comprises image analysis data received from an image processing system communicatively coupled to the computing platform; inferring, using the ontology software being executed by the processor, a third data describing the media content asset based on the first data and the second data describing the media content asset when a likelihood of the third data describing the media content asset meets or exceeds a confidence threshold of less than one hundred percent; generating, using the ontology software being executed by the processor, a first content genome database entry associating the media content asset mapped to the first content classification with other media content assets previously mapped to the first content classification; generating, using the ontology software being executed by the processor, a second content genome database entry associating the media content asset mapped to the second content classification with other media content assets previously mapped to the second content classification; generating, using the ontology software being executed by the processor, a third content genome database entry associating the media content asset mapped to a third content classification based on the third data with other media content assets previously mapped to the third content classification; cross-indexing, using the ontology software being executed by the processor, the first, second and third content genome database entries to enable identification of each of the first, second and third content classifications and the media content asset based on any one of the first, second or third content classifications or the media content asset; and identifying, using the ontology software being executed by the processor, a new media content asset desirable to a consumer using the cross-indexed first, second and third content genome database entries.
