Display hardware providing views of a virtual space (granted).

Abstract

Systems and methods configured to provide views of a virtual space are presented herein. A display device may include a display screen, one or more sensors, and/or other component. The one or more sensors being configured to generate output signals conveying gaze information including one or more of a viewpoint, a gaze direction, and/or other information. An instance of a virtual space may be executed to determine a view of the virtual space based on the gaze information and/or other information. The view of the virtual space may correspond to a field of view within the virtual space determined based on the gaze information. The instance of the virtual space may be presented on the display screen according to the determined view of the virtual space.

Background

FIELD(1) This disclosure relates to systems and methods to provide views of a virtual space.BACKGROUND(2) Science fiction has imagined the idea of a window or portal into another world or into another dimension.SUMMARY(3) One aspect of the disclosure relates to a system configured to provide views of a virtual space. The virtual space may comprise a simulated space and/or a representation a real-world space. The system may include one or more of one or more display devices, one or more physical processors, and/or other components.(4) A display device may include one or more of a display screen, one or more sensors, and/or other components. The one or more sensors may be configured to generate output signals conveying gaze information and/or other information. The gaze information may include one or more of a viewpoint of a user, a gaze direction of the user, and/or other information.(5) The one or more physical processors may be configured by machine-readable instructions. Executing the machine-readable instructions may cause the one or more physical processor to facilitate providing views of a virtual space. The machine-readable instructions may include one or more computer program components. The computer program components may include one or more of a gaze component, a space component, a presentation component, and/or other components.(6) The gaze component may be configured to obtain the output signals from the one or more sensors and/or determine the gaze information fro

Claims

1. A system configured to provide views of a virtual space, the system comprising: a display device including a display screen and one or more gaze sensors and one or more orientation sensors, the one or more gaze sensors being configured to generate output signals conveying gaze information, the gaze information including a viewpoint and a gaze direction of a user, the one or more orientation sensors being configured to generate output signals conveying orientation information, the orientation information including an orientation of the display device; one or more physical processors configured by machine-readable instructions to: determine the gaze information from the output signals; execute an instance of a virtual space and determine a view of the virtual space based on the gaze information and the orientation information, the virtual space including a simulated space having a topography and one or more virtual objects positioned within the topography that are capable of locomotion within the topography, the view of the virtual space corresponding to a field of view within the virtual space, wherein the field of view is determined based on the orientation of the display device, the viewpoint, and the gaze direction of the user; and effectuate, via the display screen, presentation of the instance of the virtual space according to the view of the virtual space; and wherein: the display device further includes a second set of one or more sensors, the second set of one or more sensors being configured to generate second output signals conveying image information, the image information defining visual content within a sensor field of view of the second set of one or more sensors; and the one or more physical processors are further configured by machine-readable instructions to: detect, based on the image information, presence of one or more users other than the user within the sensor field of view of the second set of one or more sensors; determine location of the one or more users present within the sensor field of view of the second set of one or more sensors; and effectuate, via the display screen, presentation of the one or more virtual objects within the topography of the virtual space, wherein individual virtual objects are presented to have individual perceived locations within the virtual space that correspond to individual locations of individual users of the one or more users, wherein the individual virtual objects represent the individual users within the virtual space as individual avatars of the individual users. 10. A method to provide views of a virtual space on a display screen of a display device, the method comprising: determining gaze information including a viewpoint and a gaze direction of a user; obtain orientation information including an orientation of the display device; executing an instance of a virtual space and determining a view of the virtual space based on the gaze information and the orientation information, the virtual space including a simulated space having a topography and one or more virtual objects positioned within the topography that are capable of locomotion within the topography, the view of the virtual space corresponding to a field of view within the virtual space, wherein the field of view is determined based on the orientation of the display device, the viewpoint, and the gaze direction of the user; effectuating, via the display screen, presentation of the instance of the virtual space according to the view of the virtual space; obtaining image information, the image information defining visual content; detecting, based on the image information, presence of one or more users other than the user; determining location of the one or more users; and effectuating, via the display screen, presentation of the one or more virtual objects within the topography of the virtual space, wherein individual virtual objects are presented to have individual perceived locations within the virtual space that correspond to individual locations of individual users of the one or more users, wherein the individual virtual objects represent the individual users within the virtual space as individual avatars of the individual users. 17. A display device comprising: one or more sensors, the one or more sensors being configured to generate output signals conveying gaze information, the gaze information including a viewpoint and a gaze direction of a user; one or more orientation sensors, the one or more orientation sensors being configured to generate second output signals conveying orientation information, the orientation information including an orientation of the display device; a display screen configured to present an instance of a virtual space according to a view of the virtual space, the virtual space including a simulated space having a topography and one or more virtual objects positioned within the topography that are capable of locomotion within the topography, the view of the virtual space corresponding to a field of view within the virtual space, wherein the field of view is determined based on the orientation of the display device, the viewpoint, and the gaze direction of the user; a second set of one or more sensors, the second set of one or more sensors being configured to generate third output signals conveying image information, the image information defining visual content within a sensor field of view of the second set of one or more sensors; and one or more physical processors configured by machine-readable instructions to: detect, based on the image information, presence of one or more users other than the user within the sensor field of view of the second set of one or more sensors; determine location of the one or more users present within the sensor field of view of the second set of one or more sensors; and effectuate, via the display screen, presentation of the one or more virtual objects within the topography of the virtual space, wherein individual virtual objects are presented to have individual perceived locations within the virtual space that correspond to individual locations of individual users of the one or more users, wherein the individual virtual objects represent the individual users within the virtual space as individual avatars of the individual users.
