Abstract

Systems, devices, and methods are disclosed for presenting an interactive narrative. An apparatus includes a user interface. The apparatus also includes one or more processors operatively coupled to the user interface and a non-transitory computer-readable medium. The non-transitory computer-readable medium stores instructions that, when executed, cause the one or more processors to present a first piece of content corresponding to a given narrative via the user interface. The given narrative includes one or more characteristics. The one or more processors are caused to receive user input via the user interface. The one or more processors are caused to classify the user input into one of a plurality of response models. The one or more processors are caused to dynamically respond to the user input by presenting a second piece of content. The second piece of content is based on a selected response model corresponding to the user input.

SUMMARY

Embodiments of the present disclosure include systems, methods, devices, and apparatus capable of presenting an interactive narrative, including, for example, user interfaces as well as interconnected processors and/or circuitry, to present content to a user and receive user input via a user interface.

In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, an apparatus includes a user interface. The apparatus includes one or more processors operatively coupled to the user interface and a non-transitory computer-readable medium. The non-transitory computer-readable medium stores instructions that, when executed, cause the one or more processors to perform a number of operations. One such operation is to present a first piece of content corresponding to a given narrative via the user interface. The given narrative includes one or more characteristics. Another such operation is to receive user input via the user interface. Yet another such operation is to classify the user input into one of a plurality of response models. Another such operation is to dynamically respond to the user input by presenting a second piece of content. The second piece of content is based on a selected response model corresponding to the user input.

In embodiments, the user interface is configured to simultaneously receive the user input and present content.

1. An apparatus comprising: a user interface; one or more processors operatively coupled to the user interface and a non-transitory computer-readable medium, wherein the non-transitory computer-readable medium stores instructions that, when executed, cause the one or more processors to: present a first piece of content corresponding to a given narrative via the user interface, wherein the given narrative comprises one or more characteristics; receive user input via the user interface; classify the user input into one of a plurality of response models; and dynamically respond to the user input by presenting a second piece of content, wherein the second piece of content is based on a selected response model corresponding to the user input. 2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the user interface is configured to simultaneously receive the user input and present content. 3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the plurality of response models comprise: a first response model for user input corresponding to the one or more characteristics of the narrative; and a second response model for other user input. 4. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein classifying the user input into the first response model causes the second piece of content to be based on the user input. 5. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein classifying the user input into the second response model causes the second piece of content to indicate the user input does not correspond to the one or more characteristics of the given narrative. 6. The apparatus of claim 5, wherein the one or more processors are configured by machine-readable instructions to: present a third piece of content corresponding to the given narrative and continuing the given narrative based on an end of the first piece of content. 7. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the one or more processors are configured by the instructions to: filter the user input based on breaching a threshold value of an obscenity filter. 8. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein breaching the threshold value of the obscenity filter causes the second piece of content continues the given narrative from an end of the first piece of content. 9. A method for presenting an interactive narrative, the method comprising: presenting a first piece of content corresponding to a given narrative via the user interface, wherein the given narrative comprises one or more characteristics; receiving user input via the user interface; classifying the user input into one of a plurality of response models; and dynamically responding to the user input by presenting a second piece of content, wherein the second piece of content is based on a selected response model corresponding to the user input 10. The method of claim 9, wherein the first piece of content and the second piece of content are obtained from the non-transitory computer-readable medium. 11. The method of claim 9, wherein the second piece of content is dynamically generated using a generative language model. 12. The method of claim 9, wherein the user input is classified using natural language processing. 13. The method of claim 9, wherein the user input is classified by parsing the user input into one or more component parts. 14. The method of claim 9, wherein the plurality of response models comprise: a first response model for user input corresponding to the one or more characteristics of the narrative; and a second response model for other user input. 15. The method of claim 14, wherein classifying the user input into the first response model causes the second piece of content to be based on the user input. 16. The method of claim 9, wherein a break in content is presented after a first piece of content. 17. The method of claim 9, further comprising filtering the user input based on breaching a threshold value of an obscenity filter. 18. The method of claim 17, wherein breaching the threshold value of the obscenity filter causes the second piece of content continues the given narrative from an end of the first piece of content. 19. An electronic device comprising: a user interface; one or more processors operatively coupled to the user interface and a non-transitory computer-readable medium, wherein the non-transitory computer-readable medium stores instructions that, when executed, cause the one or more processors to: present a first piece of content corresponding to a given narrative via the user interface, wherein the given narrative comprises one or more characteristics; receive user input via the user interface; send the user input to a server; receive, from the server, a second piece of content; present the second piece of content, wherein the second piece of content is based on a selected response model corresponding to the user input. 20. The electronic device of claim 19, wherein the user interface is configured to simultaneously receive the user input and present content.
