Abstract

In one aspect, a computer implemented method of motion capture, the method includes tracking the motion of a dynamic object bearing a pattern configured such that a first portion of the patterns is tracked at a first resolution and a second portion of the pattern is tracked at a second resolution. The method further includes causing data representing the motion to be stored to a computer readable medium.

1. A computer implemented method of machine vision, the method comprising: identifying afirst portion of a scale independent pattern of geometric shapes on an object positioned in an environment at a first resolution; identifying a second portion of the scale independent pattern of geometric shapes on an object positioned in the environment at a second resolution, wherein the second portion of the scale independent pattern cannot be identifiedat the first resolution; causing data related to the identifying to be stored to a computer readable medium; and enabling movement of a second object within an environment based on the identifying. 7. A system for enabling machine vision, the system comprising: one or more vision sensors configured to scan and identify a scale independent pattern of geometric shapes; and a computer-readable storage device having a computer program stored thereon; one or more processing devices operable to execute the computer program, receive input from the one or more vision sensors, and perform operations comprising: identifying a firstportion of a scale independent pattern of geometric shapes on an object positioned in an environment at a first resolution; identifying a second portion of the scale independent pattern of geometric shapes on an object positioned in the environment at a second resolution, wherein the second portion of the scale independent pattern cannot be identified at the first resolution; causing data related to the identifying to be stored to a computer readable medium; and enabling movement of a second object within an environment based on the identifying. 13. A non-transitory computer-readable memory comprising instructions that, when executed by a processor, perform a method comprising: identifying a first portion of ascale independent pattern of geometric shapes on an object positioned in an environment at a first resolution; identifying a second portion of the scale independent pattern of geometric shapes on an object positioned in the environment at a second resolution, wherein the second portion of the scale independent pattern cannot be identified at the first resolution; causing data related to the identifying to be stored to a computer readable medium;and enabling movement of a second object within an environment based on the identifying.
