Abstract

Techniques are described for providing anindication of creative digital media associated with a geographic location. Embodiments determine positional information corresponding to a geographic location. One or more instances of creative digital media that include content with a predefined association with the geographic location are identified from a plurality of instances of creative digital media. Embodiments provide an indication of at least a portion of the identified instances of creative digital media.

Background

BRIEFDESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS(1) So that the manner in which the above recited aspects are attained and can be understood in detail, a more particular description of embodiments of the invention, briefly summarized above, may be had by reference to the appended drawings.(2) It is to be noted, however, that the appended drawings illustrate only typical embodiments of this invention and are therefore not to be considered limiting of its scope, for the invention may admit to other equally effective embodiments.(3) FIG. 1 is a block diagram illustrating a system configured to operate a digital landmark component, according to one embodiment of the present invention.(4) FIG. 2 is a screenshot of a digital landmark component illustrating nearby digital landmarks, according to one embodiment of the present invention.(5) FIG. 3 illustrates a user operating a mobile device configured with a digital landmark component, according to one embodiment of the present invention.(6) FIGS. 4A-3Bare screenshots illustrating an interface for a digital landmark component, according to embodiments of the present invention.(7) FIG. 5 is a flow diagram illustrating a method for identifying digital landmarks, according to one embodiment of the present invention.(8) FIG. 6 is a flow diagram illustrating a method for identifying digital landmarks, according to one embodiment of the present invention.(9) FIG. 7 is a flow diagram illustrating a method for identifying digital content related to digita

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method, comprising: determining positional information corresponding to a geographic location of a computing device, based on one or more wireless signals received from a positioning system; querying a data store containing a plurality of tags for a plurality of instances of creative digital media, to identify one or more instances of creative digital media, from a plurality of instancesof creative digital media, that include content with a predefined association with the geographic location, wherein each tag maps a respective portion of one of the plurality of instances of creative digital media to a respective geographic location; determining a geographic route that was traversed within a first one of the one or more instances of creative digital media, based on at least one of the plurality of tags; upon determining that thedetermined positional information corresponds to a point along the geographic route, generating, by operation of one or more computer processors, a graphical representation of a map that depicts the determined geographic route and that further depicts a graphical representation of the determined positional information; outputting the generated graphical representation of the map using a display device of the computing device; and upon determining that the geographic location of the computing device is within a proximity of a digital landmark associated with a second one of the plurality of instances of creative digital media, automatically initiating playback of at least a portion of the second instance of creative digital media on the computing device. 10. A non-transitory computer-readable mediumcontaining a program that, when executed, performs an operation comprising: determining positional information corresponding to a geographic location of a computing device, based on one or more wireless signals received from a positioning system; querying a data store containing a plurality of tags for a plurality of instances of creative digital media, to identify one or more instances of creative digital media, from a plurality of instances ofcreative digital media, that include content with a predefined association with the geographic location, wherein each tag maps a respective portion of one of the plurality of instances of creative digital media to a respective geographic location; determining a geographic route that was traversed within a first one of the one or more instances of creative digital media, based on at least one of the plurality of tags; upon determining that the determined positional information corresponds to a point along the geographic route, generating a graphical representation of a map that depicts the determined geographic route and that further depicts a graphical representation of the determined positional information; outputting the generated graphical representation of the map using a display device of the computing device; and upon determining that the geographic location of the computing device is within a proximity of a digital landmark associated with a second one of the plurality of instances of creative digital media, automatically initiating playback of at least a portion of the second instance of creative digital media on the computing device. 19. A system, comprising: a display device; a processor; and a memory containing a program that, when executed by the processor, performs an operation comprising: determining positional information corresponding to a geographic location of a computing device, based on one or more wireless signals received from a positioning system; querying a data store containing aplurality of tags for a plurality of instances of creative digital media, to identify oneor more instances of creative digital media, from a plurality of instances of creative digital media, that include content with a predefined association with the geographic location, wherein each tag maps a respective portion of one of the plurality of instances of creative digital media to a respective geographic location; determining a geographic route that was traversed within a first one of the one or more instances of creative digital media, based on at least one of the plurality of tags; upon determining that the determined positional information corresponds to a point along the geographic route, generating a graphical representation of a map that depicts the determined geographic route and that further depicts a graphical representation of the determined positional information; outputting the generated graphical representation of the map using a display device of the computing device; and upon determining that the geographic location of the computing device is within a proximity of a digital landmark associated with a second one of the plurality of instances of creative digital media, automatically initiating playback of at least a portion of the second instance of creative digital media on the computing device.
